Cloud Peak Eneryg safety milestoneJanuary 19, 2014


Officials with the Cloud Peak Energy company, that owns a coal mine about 35 miles north of Sheridan, announced that their Cordero Rojo Mine in the northeastern part of the state has operated more than 1 million work hours, consecutively, without incurring a reportable injury to the Mine Safety and Health Administration.

According to the information provided, the achievement is due to the diligent work of both employees and contractors since May of last year.

Mr Rick Curtsinger is the company's manager of media relations.

During a recent presentation, he said safety is always a major concern and the company's glowing record has helped the company compete in the worldwide marketplace.

Another company spokesman said in the recent release that this new milestone is significant because its the second mine that's had no reportable injuries for more than a million work hours.

The other is the one north of Sheridan, the Spring Creek, which is actually in MontanaHe said his employees and contractors understand the company's vision of a commitment to continuously work toward zero injuries.

As part of his approach, he said everyone is encouraged to consistently create a safe environment before beginning any task.
