Officials with the Cloud Peak Energy company, that owns a coal mine about 35 miles north of Sheridan, announced that their Cordero Rojo Mine in the northeastern part of the state has operated more than 1 million work hours, consecutively, without incurring a reportable injury to the Mine Safety and Health Administration.

According to the information provided, the achievement is due to the diligent work of both employees and contractors since May of last year.

Another company spokesman said in the recent release that this new milestone is significant because its the second mine that's had no reportable injuries for more than a million work hours.
